The 4th Torunian Carbon Symposium was again organised in Bachotek, in the beginning of september. During the Symposium carbon structures containing mainly elemental carbon were discussed. Among the topics were:
-
fullerenes, fullerites and fullerides
-
grafite intercalation compounds
-
structure and properties of mesophase pitches
-
diamond CVD films
-
structure and properties of amorphous hydrogenated carbons
-
some problems of calcination, carbonisation and graphitization
The purpose of Symposium were:
-
presentation of structural investigations of carbon in Poland and comparison with investigation in other countries
-
integration and activation of research of the different forms of carbon in our country
Representatives of the most important producers of carbon and graphite materials in Poland, and representatives of the majority of the most important research groups from the science centres working on the chemistry and physics of carbon had been invited to participate in the symposium.
The following specialists from Germany, investigating carbon structures, had been invited:
- prof. Klaus J. Hüttinger from University in Karlsruhe
-
prof. Peter Scharff from Technical University in Ilmenau.
Many scientists from other countries came to Bachotek to take part in the Symposium. |
