Torunian carbon group has been studing structural and electronic properties of carbon materials obtained by decomposition of carbon species in gas, liquid and condensed phase. The investigations have been continuing for 30 years and was initialized in 60-s by Prof. K. Antonowicz. There are used radiospectroscopic methods (EPR, NMR, NQR) which are completed by XRD, ED, SEM, TEM, optical absorption, Raman spectroscopy, electrical conduction measurements as a function of temerature and frequency.

Among investigated carbon materials there are: amorphous hydrogenated carbons (a-C:H), polycrystalite diamond films, fullerenes, fullerites and their derivatives, glassy-like carbons, carbon fibres, carbon nanotubes, pyrolytic carbons, graphites, intercalated graphites obtained on the base of pyrolytic carbons.
